A door-to-door bus service for residents of BH23 who have difficulty in using public transport. The service operates on Thursdays, bookings must be made in advance, before midday on Tuesday of each week. Clients will have approximately two hours shopping time, before being returned to their homes. The bus is specially adapted for the disabled with an accessible lift/ramp, and steps with handrails. Our friendly Dial-a-Bus bus driver and Buddy will assist with getting shopping on and off the bus if needed. The recommended donation for each return trip is £6. We are now only able to take card payments, either over the phone at the time of booking or on the bus.
Neighbour Cars are available to assist with journeys to medical, banking and legal appointments, for those who live in the BH23 postcode area and have limited access to local transport. This is a door-to-door transport service provided by our team of volunteers who provide a personal, friendly and accessible service. Where possible your driver will remain with you for your appointment or return to collect you at a pre-arranged time. Journeys will be charged at 50p per mile plus a £2 admin fee.

Our services all seek to address the significant issue of social isolation which impacts on residents across both the age and socio-economic spectrum and to improve the quality of life for all who live and work in Christchurch.
Christchurch Angels. Volunteers provide initial 1:1 support to help clients to rebuild their confidence (perhaps after a bereavement or long period of isolation with ill health) and will accompany them to activities/Lunch Club/support group initially. If they are unable to physically reconnect with activities, they can be signposted to other services.
Telephone Friendship Groups. Volunteers lead a weekly social interaction with a small group of similarly isolated folk perhaps around a shared interest or hobby (e.g., Book Club/Gardening/Men’s Shed).
Helpful Neighbours. Volunteers can undertake a small household task (hang a blind/change a lightbulb/assist with technology) to enable people to manage in their own home but also perhaps provide a way into other services/support.
Dial a Bus & Neighbour Car services. Volunteers drive a small minibus or use their own car to help provide weekly shopping trips for those unable to access public/private transport, to support access to Lunch Clubs, to offer transport to support groups (e.g., Carers/Dementia/Men’s’ Sheds/Widows/Widowers Clubs) and to assist those with additional support needs to access medical and other essential appointments. Volunteer Buddies also accompany people on the buses offering company and conversation during the journey as well as assistance getting on and off the buses.
