Love to Move is a cognitive enhancing seated exercise programme developed by the British Gymnastics Foundation. It is designed for older adults including those who are living with dementia or other cognitive impairments (for example due to MS, Parkinson’s, Stroke etc).
They welcoming and supportive groups of like minded people who enjoy some gentle movement to music, along with cognitive stimulation and social benefits.
1 hour of seated exercise followed by half an hour of refreshments and company.

Our friendly and relaxed group, led by a team of volunteers, welcomes and supports people affected by a stroke to express their creativity, mix with their peers, challenge themselves with new activities and much more.
We currently offer a variety of options for our members. This includes artwork: using a selection of different materials. Board games: having fun with our creative crafts group. Enjoying conversations on many topics which can be both interesting and especially helpful for those speech difficulties. Individual help with computer use. Group exercises such as carpet bowls is our latest addition with many more activities to come!

We work together to improve communication skills and gain confidence in a friendly atmosphere, to make new friends and support their families. All our volunteers receive training and are DBS checked.
We work with adults who are recovering from stroke and have communication problems affecting speech, reading and writing.
Our weekly stroke group covers Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Wimborne and surrounding areas. Anyone is welcome to join but unfortunately cannot offer transport.
