As a Volunteer Centre, we promote and enable volunteering to take place in Dorset. We support charitable organisations to advertise their roles and match them up with volunteers. As a volunteer, we will support you to find the perfect role and if you need any additional training or DBS checks, we can also support you with this.
The staff at the Volunteer Centre have an extensive knowledge of volunteering in the local community, which makes us the first point of call for volunteers and charitable organisations.
Do you have a couple of hours to spare to help someone do the shopping, take them for a coffee or maybe stay at home with them whilst their carer goes out to run an errand?
‘Being a Neighbour is incredibly rewarding. You will be giving something back to the community in a way that is hugely appreciated by Oakhaven patients and their families.’

The key purpose of our service is to ensure the views of parents and carers are considered and valued to improve and shape future service provision across education, health and social care services within the local area.
We do this by:
• gathering parents and carers views in a variety of ways
• highlighting common issues
• working in co-production (as equal partners) with key SEND leads and head of services
• finding out about service developments and national policy and how they affect families
• responding to consultations
We also run coffee mornings across the locality, these are an ideal opportunity to meet with other parents in a safe and supportive environment and find out about local services.
The forum is free to join and is open to all parents and carers in BCP who have children or young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities aged 0-25. Whether diagnosed or undiagnosed.
